It's been a nice quiet last couple of months but the pace is heating up again as 2008 gets rolling! Last week I had the opportunity to be involved at a VIP night at Farmers in Palmerston North. I got to chat with lots of people and spray a new fragrance, called Prada Tendre, everywhere

In March, the Miss Wanganui and Miss Teen Wanganui pageants will be taking place so I will be crowning the new Miss Wanganui, yay another opportunity to get dressed up lots of other things happening too so I'll be round and about the area at different events! Maybe with a car too... but I'll keep ya posted

Can't believe I've been home ten days already!

For the first time in almost seven months I'm not preparing for a pageant.... ahhh bliss I'm really excited at all the opportunities I have over the next ten months as Miss Earth New Zealand. I've even pulled out the brass instrument again! Tomorrow night, I'm making a special appearance at the end of year Feilding Brass concert and will be playing a solo (shhhhh...that part's a secret!) Slightly nerve-wracking seeing as I haven't touched a tenor horn in two and a half years!! Oh well, how many mistakes can you make in, "Away In A Manager"? Or maybe I'll set a new record hehe It was fun joining the band at rehearsal on Wednesday night, a reminder of old times!

So what else have I been up to? This morning I visited a class at Sanson School and had a great chat with the 11-13 year olds during their Bible In Schools time. I'm looking forward to participating in the Palmerston North and Feilding Christmas parades over the next couple of weeks and also speaking in a Christmas service at a church in Palmerston North before Christmas. It's shaping up to be a busy year in 2008 with the calendar already filling up for January through to March with speaking engagements and events! One of the boys in Sanson this morning asked me how many times I had been on stage to make a speech.... I have no idea!! I could have probably counted before July but now? Ooodles and oodles!! It's such an amazing experience to be apart of and I hope I'm able to use the opportunity I've been given to make a positive impact on the community both in Feilding, the Manawatu, and all of New Zealand over the next 10 months

Here I am, back in Feilding enjoying the fresh air and no photographers or papparazzi hehe I walked through Auckland airport with NO PHOTOS!!! It was nice to see a familiar face at the airport, thanks Aunty Lyn for meeting me and getting me organised! I probably would've fallen asleep in the terminal and missed my domestic flight without you!

The last few days in the Philippines was pretty crazy! We spent four days rehearsing for the final coronation night, the rehearsals ranged from 10-14 hours in length each day. It was an endurance challenge to the max! I already had a fair idea before the show that I hadn't made the top 16 so it wasn't too much of a surprise when my country wasn't called... I won't go into too much detail but I, along with some of the other "favourites" were brought face to face with certain political aspects of the placings. I was a little disappointed but I know I gave it my absolute 100% best shot and I don't have any regrets I had the most amazing three and a half weeks that have changed me, I believe, for the better! Also the opportunity of meeting all the girls from around the world was such a unique experience and I'm looking forward to visiting some of them in the future! And a huge congratulations to my roommate, Jessica from Canada, for winning Miss Earth!! And another big congratulations to my fellow Kiwi and fantastic friend, Pooja from India, for winning Miss Air (first runner up)!!

Now I'm absolutely exhausted, after the show I went to the after party and eventually got to bed at 5am. I was up again at 9am to pack and fly home! I didn't sleep very well on the plane so I haven't had that much sleep in the last few days (and weeks!) It was so nice to see my family at the airport and to tell them about all my experiences! And a huge thank you to Diane Bates and Stu and Kate Balfour for coming to Manila to be my cheering and support squad. There's no way I could ever thank you guys enough for the investment you've made in my life over the past four months of this incredible journey!

Anyway my head is pounding and eyes are aching so I think I better go crawl off to bed hehe I wonder how many hours I'll sleep for!

Thanks to everyone for your support while I've been away, I hope you've enjoyed following my tale!

Last night was the long gown competition, the finalists and long gown winner are announced on the coronation night. I doubt I'm one of them because there were some amazing gowns! Mine was still definitely up to scratch though, I've heard that there's pics up on different sites already. I felt quite confident and relaxed on stage which was great, I kept getting attacked by stage fright when I first got here which is very uncharacterisitic of me! And I even got an early night! In bed with the light out at 1.30am instead of the usual 3am

Today is prejudging and interviews. Mine isn't until 5.30 pm so I have the whole day to relax and chill woohoo Alot of the other girls have had to go on trips but I'm one of the lucky few that gets to rest (even though I'm one of the few that's still got lots of energy!)

We had a chat with Claire on Sunday afternoon and she's feeling relaxed and confident. The minor awards in the video clips above were only presented in Claire's group (Group B), which is noticably the group with all the strong contenders in it and the only one that traveled to Vietnam.

Here I am in the most amazing resort I've ever seen! (not that I've seen many hehe) It's called Vin Pearl and it's on an island. We flew into Ho Chi Minh City (or however you spell it!) and then took a domestic flight to some other island and then a bus and ferry to this island. It's so flash, there's a theme park, a water world and a shopping mall! Our rooms are amazing and the restaurants are delicious! I'm trying to type this on a Vietnamese keyboard so it's taking awhile! I'll upload pics when I get back to Manila on the 3rd :) The night I wrote my last post, we all got 1 1/2 hours sleep :( Finally finished rehearsals and packing at 2am and were up again at 3.30am to travel. So yesterday was a loooooong day, finally ending at 11pm last night after a press conference and formal dinner. Today we have spent all morning posing for photos and interviews with local tv stations and newspapers while planting trees and sightseeing around the resort. Tonight we have a flash gala dinner so have to dress up formal in long gowns. I've heard a rumor that there's a podcast of the show tomorrow night, I don't know any details though. Also there's apparently going to be a podcast of the final coronation night in Manila on Nov 11th.

Anyway that's all for now, a quick update!
